Ranch & Working Dogs

This page is dedicated to our working dogs.  The unsung heros of our home and heart.  Those constant ranch companions who give of themselves so tirelessly in order to protect our ranch, herd our stock, give advice and love to all, and make sure no one sleeps past 5:00am.  At times they drive us nuts, but we wouldn't have it any other way. Being part of their daily adventures and misadventures has been one of lifes greatest joys.
We would like to present them to you in true "Hank the cowdog" style.  That series of books by J.R. Erickson that has thrilled many a young cowhand(and alot of old ones) for a long time.

Heads of Ranch Security

Above are pictures of sheriff Moby Doo and the love of his life Rosalita.  Moby is a 120lb, 2 and one half year old male Rotweiller that is Eli's best buddy.  He specializes in fighting off hay bale monsters, chicken thieves and evil coyotes.  He also likes to run in his sleep which makes Eli look like he was rolled in 5 miles of barb wire since they sleep in the same bed! He also feels it's his solemn duty to howl next to Eli at 5 every morning to start the day.
The love of Moby's life Rosalita is the mysterious older woman who helps out with all of Moby's security duties.  These include regular inspections of the hen house, (and the occasional sampling of an egg or two!) trips to the goat milking room(to wash the eggs down) and generally keeping Miss Nancy on her toes. She disposes of all leftovers, and is responsible for general kitchen cleanup and leftover disposal.  After her rigerous duties she can be found out on the trail with the family, working stock,  or holding down the love seat.

The Instigators

If there is any trouble about the ranch that is crazy and insane, these four are most likely at the bottom of it.  Or in it.  Loud and rambunctious, occasionally downright annoying(they always challenge the Puppy Posse to a howling duel at feeding time, making music for Eli's ears.  That's why he's half deaf!).  They love to go out on trail rides, and even keep up after the third mile.  They are great for spook training the horses, as they pop up out of nowhere.  Gets interesting until the horse gets used to them.  We just hate it when they do that near the thorn bushes.  Then they steal all of Dave's tools in the barn, adding an hour to every five minute job.  They attempt to do many repeated checks of the dog food can, their excuse is that rats are in a particularily heavy concentration in that specific area.  All in all they are a lot of fun, and add much amusment to are lives(except at 5:00 AM).

The Night Patrol

Tilly and Murphy are the ranch night security force.  Having taken special training in "night monster control", and" hen house bandits" they lend their expertise to the safety and security of our home.  There is nothing these two would not do to defend home and hearth.
When these 2 go into camo-stealth mode there is no place to hide for chicken killers, and grain room raiders.  Moby and the rest of the gang can sleep well with these two on guard. By day Murphy sleeps in the barn and Tilly under Nancy's desk.

Nancy's White Shadow

This is Raven, super dog and Nancys personal friend.  They are never seperated and I mean never.  She accompanies Nancy everywhere and is her staunch defender against night monsters coyotes (2 & 4 legged) and all evil doers.  She is a very curious and steadfast critter always willing to lend a hand.  She personally enjoys playing bully to the hogs and they don't even try to get out with Raven around.  She is very gentle with children and plays well.  Raven is a coming 3yr old American Bulldogge, weighing in at 90+lbs. This quiet girl loves long walks with Nancy in the woods herb picking, and long naps in bed.....on my side, have you ever tried to move a Bulldogge out of a warm bed spot....well it's impossible, I'm glad we have a couch, I spend alot of time there actually!  She is an amazing dog and learns quickly, sometimes to quickly........

The Kids

Sometimes Eli thinks life is a little to slow around here, so he decidedto liven things up by
having Rotti pup's!  So here is the gang coming in from play.  These pups are going to keep things hopping around here.  Eli is not bored any more!  They are truly part of the crew.  They excell at singing, and can even out do the local coyotes!
There will be individual pic's added shortly on a sub-page.
